On February 16, 2019, for one night only, SPIN Chicago is transforming into a pop-up roller rink from 9pm-1am downtown! “Match Made in Heaven” is a free event, presented by White Mystery and 1833 that kicks off with a retro fashion show on wheels by indie label Crystal Gravy. Bring your own skates, or rent a pair for $5, and cruise to awesome soul, funk, disco and more tunes from DJs Miss Alex White & White Francis! Photo by Diane Alexander White.
Listen to Miss Alex White on the WLUW 88.7FM “Minimal Beat Show,” picking out songs, and giving away tickets to the White Mystery headlining show at Thalia Hall on January 18, 2018. Hop to the halfway point for her guest DJ set!
Miss Alex White started DJing vinyl at age 19 in Chicago. She discovered 45s in the late 1990s at record stores, where she recognized her favorite oldies for 10¢ a pop. Her collection grew at a time when vinyl was still considered old-fashioned and outdated, so a lot of her rare records were affordable at the time.
Now Alex spins records nationwide, inspiring wallflowers to cut a rug.

Sailor Jerry invited White Mystery to DJ the opening of the TATTOO exhibit at Chicago’s Field Museum! The audience heard all swingin’ vinyl 7-inches, which is the best way to soundtrack a party. It was a blast, as you can see in these photos by Alan Hain.
