group at the messy intersection of punk, glam, and psych-rock. They’ve increased their profile with a recent tour in support of the Strange Boys, and there’s currently a grassroots campaignto get the duo onto Conan, a fellow redhead who’s shown his love of garage rock in the past.
The whole night looks to be a sweaty, messy affair with a strong lineup full of familiar faces as well as a few newcomers to the Beerland stage. Lawrence, Kansas’sMouthbreathers keep things loud and fun, nodding to Minor Threat and others in the D.C. hardcore scene. Austin’s own A Giant Dog continues to burn up Red River with their blend of rockabilly weirdness and punk fervor. With Sabrina Ellis up front and the boys providing harmonies to her howl, A Giant Dog still counts as one of the hottest acts around. Fellow locals Rayon Beach show off the snotty side of Nuggets garage-rock, and the Maine Coons open up the night with a cheeky take on psychedelic pop.
