Hand-dyed, block-printed v-neck shirts and mid-rise briefs are the signature merchandise of WHITE MYSTERY. Produced exclusively for the Johalla Projects debut of WHITE MYSTERY ART SHOW is a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces that transform the colorful energy of rock’n’roll into instantly wearable, intimate art. Each piece is unique, handmade, and signed by White Mystery in Chicago, USA.
White Mystery unifies music, performance, and design by Miss Alex White and Francis Scott Key White. Equal parts band and brand, their songs manifest on vinyl, CDs, and digital media. Each work is a collaboration with photographer Diane Alexander White, who also leads the design team with hand-printed merchandise for sale at performances, online and in galleries.
This show represents White Mystery as an independent, artistic expression through graphic design, print-making, music and video. Miss Alex White is a 25-year old musician, her partner and brother Francis Scott Key White is 23-years old, the photographer/graphic designer is Diane Alexander White, and their School of the Art Institute intern is Saraswati Jasmine.
Watch the evolution of bold, legible design, and patterns in the art created for albums Miss Alex White & Chris Playboy, Miss Alex White & the Red Orchestra, Hot Machines, The Red Lights, The Spits, and the Dirges.
The aesthetic of White Mystery includes photography, design and one-of-a-kind printmaking that connects music to the visual arts.
