With wild shocks of red hair and charisma that kicks you in the teeth, White Mystery makes garage punk that will have your head nodding and your ass shaking.

Named after the White Mystery Airheads flavor, Brother Francis White and sister Miss Alex White are Chicago natives with a DIY sensibility that informs their approach to music. In charge of their creative identity, White Mystery is a self-made band and do all their own recording and manage themselves. This gives them the freedom to be who they want uninhibited.

The natural chemistry between this brother/sister duo  can be heard on their most recent album and sophmore release “Blood & Venom”.

If you can’t make it to the first night of Total Fest X at the Top Hat, in Missoula, MT, on August 18th, then you’ll miss these eccentric siblings tearing it up. Basically…don’t miss this.

1. What is your hometown?

THE CITY OF CHICAGO ILLINOIS.

2. With what fictional character do you most identify?

Francis Scott Key White identifies most with Conan the Barbarian. Miss Alex White relates most to Wonderwoman!

3. In the movie of your life, cast an actor to play you.

Francis is an actor, and played the lead role in an indie flick called, “The Funny Things You Do,” so he’d play himself. Marissa Ribisi, from “Dazed and Confused,” would be a perfect actress to play Alex in her life’s story!

4. What work of art speaks to your soul?

Ivan Albright’s “Picture of Dorian Grey” speaks to Francis. Jasper Johns “Three Flags” inspires much of Alex’s graphic works.

5. What books are you currently reading or recommending?

“Dungeon Master’s Guide v3.5″ and “MC5 Sonically Speaking: A Tale of Revolution and Rock’n’Roll.”

6. What song or album is currently in heavy rotation on your iPod?

There is no iPod in the White House. In heavy rotation on the turntable is the Status Quo single, “Picture of Matchstick Men.” In the car on tour is Black Sabbath, “Paranoid.”

7. What’s the last movie that made you cry?

“Anvil: The Story of Anvil”

8. Cat person or dog person?

Dog People! Our poodle is named Devo.

9. What is more important, truth or kindness?

Definitely kindness.

10. How do you define sin?

Anything that’s fun.

11. How do you define virtue?

Anything that’s boring.

12. Design your headstone: What does it say? What does it look like?

There would be fuzzy, curly red hair sprouting out of the tombstone of Francis Scott Key White. Alex’s would be in the shape of her Rickenbacker guitar…the cause, and solution to, all of life’s problems.

Bonus Question: Who would you like to see answer these questions?

Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo.
