By Courtney Jacquin @courtneyjacquin RedEye 12:39 p.m. CDT, September 4, 2013 There’s no doubt you’ve taken a train to a performance before, but has the train ever brought the performance to you? Public art project Station to Station is stopping at Union Station on Sept. 10 with a mix of live music and art installations. Local performers White Mystery and Theaster Gates’ Black Monks of Mississippi will be joined by No Age and Caught on Tape, Thurston Moore and John Moloney’s collaboration. Artist Doug Aiken organized the three-week-long event, creating specific events along each stop on the route with work from a slew of artists including Francis Al’s, Fischli & Weiss, Kathryn Andrews and dozens more to connect prominent and unknown artists in unique events. The event will boast plenty of food options as well, including sandwiches from Publican Quality Meats and options from Sauce and Bread Pleasant House Bakery. The $25 tickets for the event in each city benefit non-traditional programming at museums in each city stop with the Museum of Contemporary Art being Chicago’s pick. Station to Station will stop in New York and Pittsburg before its Chicago date and continue on to Minneapolis, Santa Fe, N.M., Winslow, Ariz., and California with stops in Barstow, L.A. and Oakland. Tickets are available at stationtostation.com
