ARTIST INTERVIEW: GANDHI EKA

Gandhi Eka is a gig poster artist you should know! Feast your eyes on these two amazing original designs by the Indonesian artist that White Mystery commissioned for the Chicago International Music & Movies Festival.

Gandhi designed a cartoon-style, super vibrant CYMK poster White Mystery “That Was Awesome” Film Premiere on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Logan Theater (get tickets here) and a more gestural, illustrative movie monster for Digital Leather, the Holy Motors, Mac Blackout, and the Mongrels on Thursday April 16 at Township.

Gandhi’s mission is to make, “useful artwork in the whole planet” and you can read how in the the full interview below:

 

WM: Talk about your design choices for the CIMM Fest poster.
G.E: I made the CIMM Fest poster with my illustration cartoon style, taking some ordinary object like TV, Camera, Music Instrument and insect’s legs which melt to be the one quirky and weird object. then just try to describe the events by my fantasy. And the main object come from White Mystery for the inspiration, because Miss Alex asked me to make the poster :))

 

WM: What are your goals in creating art for music?

G.E: Make people drool when see my work and to make useful artwork in the whole planet.

 

WM: Who are some of your favorite bands and artists right now?

G.E.: Mooseo, Sangkakala, Muchos Libre, Foam, Cangkang Serigala, Fidlar, Hideous Sun Demon, Vlaar and many many more.

Favorite artists: Djoko Pekik, Affandi, Asnar Zacky.
