We’ve got the best type of news to kick off your weekend — a song premiere and an album announcement! Exceedingly prolific, raw and eclectic rock group White Mystery will be releasing their eighth full length studio album F.Y.M.S this April 20th (4/20).
Today we are debuting the title track and first single “F.Y.M.S” (an acronym for Fuck Your Mouth Shut, because White Mystery really are the funnest band on Earth). “F.Y.M.S” is out of the gates as soon as it starts with Francis White’s rhythmic backbeating drums and Miss Alex White’s overlaying guitar riffs before the song explodes into the first verse. The track is anthemic and likely to inspire chanting as Francis and Miss Alex’s skillful mastery of their respective instruments build on one another until the point of climax as Miss Alex White yells out “Fuck your mouth shut / Fuck your mouth shut!”
F.YM.S is a loud and fervent punk rock album that fights its way through its ten tracks determined and urgent, a reflection of the the attitude needed to survive the next few years. The record moves from more traditional lyricisms on tracks like “Ton Up Kid” and “Bad Neptune” to Beat poetry reminiscent poetics on “Dream Cum” and “Wear Your Sunblock.”
We spoke to White Mystery to get a sense of the rest of the album and what’s to come. With seven previous studio albums Francis explained “This album is very exciting because the songs are way more stripped down than our previous works which makes them fun to play live.” Miss Alex added “Last year’s White Mystery Outta Control was written with a pop sensibility, carefully produced, and visually inspired by cartoons. F.Y.M.S is powerful, evocative, and fast. The ten songs are powerful anthems, which makes them fun to chant. It’s contemporary punk because it’s very NOW and realistic.”
