DOWNTOWN — Chicago’s iconic food festival is returning to Grant Park a few months later than usual, with a new set of artists and plenty of returning favorites.
The Taste of Chicago gets underway Sept. 8-10. The festival usually happens in July but was pushed back this year due to the NASCAR Street Race.
Fifteen food trucks and over 35 restaurants and vendors will be at the Taste, including Cumin Club Indian Kitchen, Sapori Trattoria, Arun’s Thai Restaurant, The Original Rainbow Cone, Healthy Substance Kitchen, LC Pho Restaurant and Yum Dum.
Organizers have added festival entrances and “streamlined the guest entrance process,” according to a press release from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
There’s no admission fee, and all vendors accept cash or credit.
Headliners taking the main stage are: Master’s of The Mic, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, KRS-One, Slick Rick, Proyecto Uno, Whitney and Lupita Infante, supported by Chicago’s all-female mariachi group Mariachi Sirenas.

White Mystery played with Neptune’s Core and MIIRORS along with an all-star cast of cool Chicagoans at the Empty Bottle on March 15, 2022 for the Quiet Pterodactyl Situation Chicago two-day festival. In addition to being a good ol’fashion rock’n’roll celebration, it was super cool hosting Neptune’s Core on stage to to join us for a duet of the White Mystery classic jam, “Birthday.” We remember meeting the Neptune’s Core band members when they were toddlers more than a decade ago, and now they’ve grown up to start a rad sibling band of their own. That is the kind of synchronicity that keeps our band going all of these years.

On December 31, 2021, White Mystery brought in 2022 for a select crowd at Soho House Chicago, on Green Street. We’re grateful for the opportunity to perform on NYE, especially given that our last New Year’s Eve show was at the Hideout back in 2019! A good time was had by all. Photos by Azuree Wiitala.
