The novel coronavirus has affected everything, including the world of entertainment. In addition to the sad tally of people we have lost, organizations, festivals, artists and film studios have come forward with everything from benefits to ways to reconsider what and how they do in a very different world. We track all of that here, as well as cancellations and postponements.
The list of coronavirus-sparked cancellations continued as Spring Awakening, the summer EDM festival scheduled to take place in Union Park June 12-14, will be postponed to 2021, when the event will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Options for ticketholders includes just standing pat for the 2021 event, or a refund. Patrons will be notified by the fest’s ticketing agency.
Also announced by the fest was a virtual Spring Awakening event in the fall. For ongoing information, visit springawakeningfestival.com.
White Mystery is brother-sister rock’n’roll duo Miss Alex White & Francis Scott White from Chicago, founded on April 20, 2008. The ginger sibling duo have written, recorded and played non-stop since their inception, releasing 7”s with Hozac and Whistler Records, self-releasing two LPs, pogoing with the kids on Chic-A-Go-Go, touring round the world, and earning rave reviews from national and local publications – MTV, WBEZ, VICE, the Onion – and the list goes on. The WHITES released their third full-length, Telepathic, on April 20th, 2013 and continue their domination of old-school, ass kickin’ rock’n’roll.
The world has moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Everything from Easter mass in the Vatican to fitness classes is being live-streamed as the virus outbreak has forced more than half of the world’s population into lockdown.
Due to the dramatic circumstances, most of this year’s 4/20 celebrations have been cancelled or postponed. But there’s no reason you can’t mark the informal stoner holiday from the comfort and safety of your home as cannabis-oriented celebrations have also moved online.
We bring you a selection of some of the best events pot-lovers can enjoy this April 20, including virtual parties, cooking sessions and new shows in order to honor the holiday and come together during these trying times.
