“Rapid Overdrive”
self-released

Chicago’s brother/sister garage duo White Mystery have a tradition– every 4/20, they put out a record. This year, it’s the single “People Power”, which features “Rapid Overdrive” on the B-side. But the release date isn’t an obvious fit for the band. Despite what their giant, thrashing curly red hair might imply, Alex and Francis White aren’t stoner rockers or, for that matter, all that psychedelic. The band’s defined more by their high energy sets and searing guitars. “Rapid Overdrive”, stomping garage jam though it may be, bucks that trend as the trippiest song in the band’s repertoire. Each word in the song begins with “ROY G BIV” and “CMYK”: “Rattlesnakes, Orangutans, Yardbirds, Gwar, Bees, Intravenous Vampires.”
