POWERED BY REBELS “wild electric love”

Of the bands that both remind you that Rock is not dead and prove it LIVE, Chicago’s own red-curly-haired duo White Mystery is definitely on the list—and showed at Do Division Street Fest.

Front-woman guitarist/vocalist ‘Miss’ Alex White, formerly of Miss Alex White and the Red Orchestra, knows how to grab the guitar and pour on the wild electric love all over again with White Mystery. On drums, is her brother Francis Scott Key White who smashes-it-out while holding it down for Alex’s electric, dirty reverb chords.

I recall a Hideout show from…well, my memory isn’t so good-but it happend, where Alex put her head down, dug in and got on this glorious distortion repetition that squalled into dirty feedback while remaining entrancing and meditative. Think Spacemen 3 but replace the heroine with the raw power of The Stooges Fun House and bit of whiskey.

Ok, enough reminiscing, we can’t go back. If you missed them rip it at Do Division you can check out upcoming tour dates to see White Mystery and be reminded that rock is very alive!
