It’s almost that time of the year again when She Shreds travels to a different city, rounds up all the baddest babes in town and throws the best event of the year. This October 4th we’re thrilled to bring Shred Fest to Chicago and bring you a solid 13 hours chock-full of workshops, speakers, 15 bands, two stages, DJ’s, and demo stations for ALL AGES. Basically everything you’ve ever dreamed of.
We want to hear from you! This is Shred Fest CHICAGO so we want to make sure that we incorporate every badass shredder in and around Chicago.
I’d bring a bottle of peroxide at least as big as the jug of moonshine that looks to be de rigueur at this inaugural Meltasia Music Festival. Noted, because aside from being a big-ass, three-day, camping extravaganza, the preponderance of the musical offerings across multiple stages is of only the dirtiest, rowdiest, lacivious sort. Sprung from the mind of Brooklyn gadabout, Andy Animal—longtime singer of the Stalkers— this amazing imbibe-a-thon is a more formally big deal version of his infamous yearly birthday party camping fests in upstate New York.
Some slightly more restrained garbage can kickers are in there (Shannon And The Clams, Fletcher C. Johnson) so you can take a breather from throwing your empties across the crowd; not to mention some excellent soul/garage DJs like Jonathan Toubin, Josh Styles and Howie Pyro. Plus, Cherie Currie (of the Runaways) should make some music and chainsaw art (seriously). But for the most part, this looks to be THE trash rock gathering of the year, and one that no doubt scouted hard for a location miles away from the nearest working laundromat. But there will be a big lake to go swim in, so ya got that going for ya.
It’s like a dream. There you are with 5 of your closest comrades, sitting at a table waiting to feast. You’re on the end of Navy Pier, a cold drink in your hand, A bib tied around your neck, and planes flying over head during the Chicago Air & Water show with White Mystery playing! Click here for info.
