“Rock’n’roll delivery and DIY sensibility,” PITCHFORK

White Mystery “Secret Garden” self-released

By Evan Minsker December 22, 2012

Artists: White Mystery

Once again, on April 20, Chicago’s ginger afro’d brother and sister garage duo White Mystery will emerge from their always-insane tour schedule with a new record. This time, it’s their third full-length, Telepathic. “Secret Garden”, as usual, is anchored by Miss Alex White’s low end fuzz guitar and led by Francis White’s frenzied drumming. The song is about spending time outside. Really, it’s a love letter to playing make believe: “We are the knights of the secret garden.” There’s something fitting about that theme in a White Mystery song. With their jovial rock’n’roll delivery and DIY sensibility, it’s easy to picture the two Whites as imaginative little kids.
