“Torch-bearers for shredding in the 21st Century,” These Days

As far as rock music in 2017 goes, we’re a bit more thin than we were a couple decades ago in the ‘Go. Despite the ever-changing trends of the pop-side, the purveyors of rock never cease and over the course of the last few years, the brother-sister duo of White Mystery has emerged as one of the torch-bearers for shredding in the 21st Century. Proving as much, the pair dropped off a new video today for the title track off their upcoming full-length Fuck You Mouth Shut which was announced alongside the release, slated for April 20.
The project is the eighth annual release from White Mystery who, true to the consistency that has allowed them to work from the top down in the city, is a welcome one that finds Alex and Francis flexing a bit more loosely and, of course, having fun with it in the process. The video itself is a punch in the mouth if there ever was one that sets the tone appropriately for the project as a whole and the kind of in-your-face live sets that have come to pace the group to date. Viewers in the West Loop got a preview at my pre-SXSW series, but more will soon get a glimpse as White Mystery hits the road following their set tomorrow night at the Chop Shop, linking up with Twin Peaks before hitting some summer festival dates. Lots going on for these two, don’t miss out on any of it! By Jake Krez.
