“White Mystery at Michigan Glass Project,” Detroit Free Press

Detroit music: Shady Groves farewell, George Clinton tribute

There are two weekend-long music festivals in the lineup, one involving glass blowing and the other featuring high-energy brass bands. Beyond that, Saturday is shaping up to be a busy night. It’s loaded with opportunities to experience local music.

Michigan Glass Project

This festival celebrates the variety of musical talent bred in metro Detroit as well as the meticulous art of glass blowing. The Michigan Glass Project benefits Art Road, a nonprofit working to return art classes to public schools in Detroit. The music lineup includes emcee and producer Nick Speed; indie rockers like Double Winter, the Imaginotron, and Dark Red; the always inventive Onyx Ashanti, and headliners like Kool Keith and White Mystery.

Noon-11 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Russell Industrial Center, 1600 Clay St., Detroit. 906-250-1517. http://www.themichiganglassproject.com/. $30.
